Dual Language Immersion Program

Our Dual Language Immersion program develops bilingualism in English and Spanish by integrating proficient native Spanish speakers with proficient native English speakers. The program is designed for 50% English speakers and 50% Spanish speakers in every classroom. In order to maintain the integrity of the program, every student will need to take a language assessment in his/her primary language.

Beaumont USD Elementary Dual Language Immersion program reflects the 90:10 model where the instructional day consists of 90% Spanish and 10% English in TK/Kindergarten, increasing to 50% English and 50% Spanish by fifth grade. The greatest benefit of participating in the Dual Language Immersion program is achieved by students committed to the full TK – 12 DLI program where they can receive the State Seal of Biliteracy.

Entry into our Dual Language Immersion program is ONLY available in Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten. The only exception to this is when students in grades 1st-5th  have been previously enrolled in a Dual Language Immersion program at another district. Students coming from a Spanish speaking country who are interested in enrolling in the DLI program, must pass an entrance assessment.
